Every Day Should Be A Father’s Day

Amazingly gorgeous, imagine this small piece of a scene when we arrived for our meet up, with a Father, who had obviously been working hard on his laptop, and his young Son of nearly six months laid down next to him, waiting patiently whilst the last work email was edited and sent to his overseas office; William happily playing with Bob the Bunny, it was seriously cute and provided us with that air of contentment.

Daddy Tim manages to spend some mornings together with his Son before he goes to work, which is really special for the both of them. Having lived and worked in the rural countryside of the UK for years, and now living and working in the big smoke of Bangkok, the quietness of Shropshire during a planned short vacation was a good place for the family to stay and meet up with their family and friends from across the North West and the Midlands, and I think the slower pace of life came as a welcomed break, and something they have embraced rather well.

These moments for William and his Daddy Tim are very precious, all too soon Daddy will be departing on another international flight to China, and William will be heading to nursery back in Thailand in a few months, then on in time into school life himself, and the time alone with Daddy will be even rarer.

We arrive – It’s a very chilled out start to the day, there’s no rush and it’s a nice feeling… and wonderful for us to just observe the intimate special time.

It’s enchanting and full of joyful innocence – it’s wonderful being a baby, so young and carefree, I think that being around juniors and children is a great way to remember that life is full of happy little moments, snippets and chances of time, that can carry you through the day.

Our photo session was relaxed and natural, lasting a couple of hours early one morning, marking a chapter in William’s primary year, his introductory time in Great Britain, experiencing the weather changes, his first time having to wear many layers, a hat, ‘ickle trousers, socks and shoes (yes in the month of May), seeing country cottage flowers swaying in unison in the breeze and hearing some strange farm animals – quite a surprise, just evoking a chuckle or three from William, even at this early age, wondering what the rude noise was.

Special glimpses of a small adorable person, in a big world, making memories for his parents, to cherish, to remember, to love and take pleasure in over and over again, just like he will in his future years, when looking back at the images we’ve taken.

The shoot ended here, but it wasn’t the end to William’s day with his Daddy. They were heading for lunch with Mummy and some close family members. Salmon for Daddy, smashed butternut squash for William, which he absolutely loves with a passion.

It was wonderful to see them together, a small window of time, Father and Son, building their close male bonds; but time can creep by so fast, and all too soon you look back and realise that these moments stopped, but you’re never quite sure when it happened.

We realised just how important it is to have time with your Dad when we were photographing Tim and William together…

How many pictures or photographs, taken through your early infant years, teenage years, early adult and formative years, do you have to look back on with your Daddy and other relatives?

Many would say that there are so few images in our pasts because photography wasn’t so popular or as accessible as it is now, and to some extent that is true, however, now we have the problem where there are more people taking photos, but often there is a parent who is not in the shots simply because they are the ones taking the photos.

So, this Father’s Day (on June 16th this year), make an extra special effort to have time with your Dad – make a plan and we’ll help you record it.

Yes we can smell the first hints of Spring and Summer in the air.
