How much is our Photography related bookshelf worth?

Photography Bookshelf – photo inspiration – art books – photographic books – photographer books
A question we were forced to ask ourselves this week, as we acquired another photograph book and looked at one of the bookshelves groaning back at us in wonderment; we have quite a few on the go in several rooms, the office and equipment room.
We buy photographic books as a reference and for inspiration. And because we enjoy photography as art in it’s own right too.
We don’t like to be pigeon holed, or to follow the flock like sheep, we like to seek thoughts and visions from all different areas, and the written and printed format is a huge arena we keep on going back to for aspirational and inspired shots, experimental works, stylish references and musings.
It would be sad for us if we didn’t have our books to mull over with a yummy glass of wine or beer every now and again, whilst our lanterns flicker in the summer’s warmth, breathing in the heady scent of our butterfly flower boxes, or snuggling into a cashmere throw and plump cushions, in front of a roaring log fire during the dark winter months.
Pleasures in life are few and far between for most of us, we just choose a few that have a ‘feel good’, a bit of ‘ooooh and ahhhhhh’, and give us something to muster for ourselves, rather than following the crowds, producing or trying to replicate the mainstream, following trends that will be out of fashion in 6 months, which we steer well away from you’ll be glad to know.
Our books, like our wantable photography albums, are delectable’s we can touch, feel and keep on going back to – enjoying and relishing time and time again, learning from, adjusting to suit us and what we want to try or form into a service within our own photographic portfolio.

We love our books.
We know our collection of printed materials is vast, and probably worth a tidy pound and dollar or two, but the ‘worth’ is not something we overly ponder, more the value to us creatively and often a reminder of a country or city we’ve visited, and which makes us passionate about driving ourselves and our photography the way we want to and thus maintaining our point of difference in the photography industry today…
